Who is Ted Storm

Henriëtte Christine (Ted) Storm-van Weelden
(Rotterdam, 1951)

Wife, mother and grandmother of 2 adorable boys.

1968-1972    HBO Textile Art and Fine Needlework and teacher training degree

1970 - 1992   Teaching Textile Art

Since 1988    Quilting teacher, nationally and internationally

A visit in 1988 to Quilt Expo 1 in Salzburg, Austria, changed my life.
I met Lois K. Ide from Bucyrus, Ohio, USA. We exchanged some words and a piece of fabric. She invited me to come to her home. During that first stay all quilting techniques she knew from her mother as well as and her own adaptations she shared and taught. She literally took me under her wing, and till now, I still consider her my 'quilting mother'.
To thank her (and husband Carl) for her hospitality, friendship and love I made 'Hollands Glorie', inspired by Royal Delftware and all her techniques are part of it.
In 1992 this quilt won Best Overall Workmanship and Viewer's Choice at Quilt Expo 3 in The Hague, The Netherlands.

Winning this price marks a change in career: I ended teaching at the highschool to be totally devoted to teach quilters.
Since then I've enjoyed creating quilts and teach nationally and internationally.
